Art, Community & Movement as Medicine
I am without words to describe the soul gift given me by Dana W. through the recent Cacao & Gratitude Ceremony. A tender, soulful experience facilitated with insight, empathy, wisdom, and grace. ~Alma, Social Worker/Artist/Yoga Teacher, Ursa Wild
Are you looking for an antidote to the fear and negativity that is so pervasive these days? Join us for this feel good event. Not only does the cacao elicit positive feelings, but the sharing of gratitude in community is incredibly healing. You are sure to leave with a smile on your face. Beginners welcome!! Still have questions? Please ask!
A Cacao Ceremony invites you to move deeply into your heart and connect with yourself in a way that awakens self-love. Together in ceremony we will drink cacao sourced from traditionally produced cacao, grown by farmers in Guatemala, produced ethically, sustainably and in fair trade. Cacao awakens the creative and vital energies of the body when used in a ceremonial way. Participants often describe feeling as if their heart is literally opening like a flower.
Bliss & Gratitude
Future Dates: October 4th, November 4th
Before we get into the details of the event, I want to quickly define the terms ritual and ceremony. I want to acknowledge that if these words aren't part of your vocabulary they can seem foreign, mysterious, or woowoo. What is a ritual? A ritual is simply an act of presence that can be applied to any task. For example, it can be the way that you prepare your coffee in the morning or how you celebrate your birthday. What is important is the presence or the mindfulness with which you do the task. I love ritual because this shift in consciousness can make even the most mundane tasks feel like magic. What is a ceremony? Although it is often associated with formality and religion, a ceremony is really a set of tasks done to mark or celebrate an occasion. We're all familiar with graduation and wedding ceremonies, but the way you take a bath can be a form of ceremony.
The Bliss & Gratitude Ceremony is not associated with any religion or belief system. Each attendee will have their own unique and personal experience. I personally believe that much of the malaise we as a society experience today can be attributed to our fast-paced lives and the absence of ritual and ceremony. After having participated in this ceremony I frequently hear from attendees, "That's exactly what I needed." I invite you to see if that's true for you.
What is Cacao?
Cacao is what chocolate is made from. It is the seed of a tropical fruit known as Theobroma Cacao.
How is it different from chocolate?
Cacao is the pure form of chocolate. Most chocolate has milk added which interferes with absorption and inhibits the feel-good effects. Additionally, the processing that chocolate undergoes further diminishes the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
What are the benefits?
Cacao contains the neurotransmitters serotonin, tryptophan and dopamine -which help promote feelings of wellbeing. The alkaloids, neurotransmitters, neuromodulators, vitamins and minerals specific to cacao have a particularly nourishing effect on the human body. When you consume cacao prepared for ceremony, all the mood enhancing neurochemicals in cacao activate; there is increased blood flow and nutrition to the brain, heart and skin, awareness and focus is heightened, and sensations are intensified.
The idea of a Despacho Gratitude Ceremony is simple; you say thank you. You say thank you for as much as you can think of. And then you keep saying thank you until you feel like you could say thank you for hours. It is medicine for the soul.
The Despacho originates from the Q’ero Shamans in Peru. It is often the first thing done to bring healing-no matter the condition or desire- whether it be to heal from losing a loved one, to welcome a new soul to the earth, to honor a birthday, to heal from a break up, to call in love, to start a business, to experience physical healing, etc…
Please Note: Bliss & Gratitude takes place each month on or near the Full Moon.
This beautiful and powerful ceremony will open the way for transformation. Bliss & Gratitude is a combination of a Cacao Ceremony and a Despacho Gratitude Ceremony. (Keep reading to learn more about both.) If you have never participated in one of these, I welcome you to come experience the magic for yourself. All you need to do is come with the willingness to open your heart. It really is that simple.
Dana, you truly helped me heal in ways I didn't know could be healed.... or, at least, at this point in time. Life is magical and YOU exude that magic. Thank you for being a vessel of light and love. From Qoya to Cacao Ceremony to gently guiding my heart towards it already knows, I am better for meeting you. I genuinely cherish that class/experience. Thank you. ~Krissie, Artist, Speak That Soul
