Are you struggling to navigate all the resources, opinions, and options available in today's culture?
Midwife or OB? Co-sleep or Crib? Vegan or Paleo?
Breast or Bottle? Hospital, Birthing Center or Home? Lamaze, Bradley or Hypnobabies?
Cloth or Disposable? Stay at Home or Return to Work?
Have you spent hours researching your options but still don't feel prepared for labor, birth or motherhood?
When I was pregnant with my first son I spent hours upon hours researching all of these topics. After he was born I began to reflect on what would have made the experience better. I realized that all of this questioning focused on external factors. Much of it on the birth itself- which, while important, was only a small part of the journey.
After he was born I realized that I had been living with this fantasy that if I did everything perfect- ate the right foods, had the perfect birth, established a successful breastfeeding relationship, etc. that he wouldn't cry. That fantasy lasted two weeks and when he did cry it was pretty devastating. Having fantasies is a normal part of preparing for parenthood. Perhaps we even need these fantasies to help us navigate the unknown. However, I have found that by going within and exploring my fantasies and even my fears, I am more confident in my abilities and better prepared to handle the unexpected.
This time I vow to do it differently. My focus is going inward. I'll be nourishing myself... Slowing dow... Mining the shadows for wisdom...Creating connections with my body and my baby.
And I invite you to do the same.
THIS RETREAT IS FOR YOU IF:
- this is your first child or your fifth
- you're in your first, second, or third trimester
- you're planning a home birth, a scheduled c-section, or anything in-between
- you want to dive deep into fears and fantasies so they can be processed and moved through
-you desire to process in a community of supportive women
-you want learn simple and enjoyable techniques to support your transition into motherhood
-you're looking to up your self-care/self-love practice
-rather than looking for a guru, you want to call upon your innate inner wisdom to guide you
I believe in the healing power of community. I know that art, movement and meditation are powerful forms of medicine. I am passionate about creating sacred space where these modalities can be practiced.
I am a Creative Arts Therapist who has a passion for guiding women to lead joyful and wholehearted lives. It is such an honor to hold space for women to slow down, experience authentic connection, and tap into the light inside of themselves. It is so refreshing to give myself and others permission to feel a range of emotions and begin to trust that instead of avoiding the shadows, it is possible to mine them for wisdom. I also really appreciate that each class offers the opportunity to experience pure pleasure and delight.
I want to acknowledge that it takes courage to show up for that first time as it can be somewhat uncomfortable to try something new. In a group. The good news is that there is absolutely no way you can do it wrong and the focus is on finding the place where it feels good and true. One of the greatest rewards found in a Qoya practice is that it offers a way for you to reunite with your body. You may just find that this reunion is the missing piece in your transformation.
You're not just birthing a child
You're birthing a new self.
DURING THIS DAY RETREAT YOU WILL:
"Thank you for such a special day and unique experience.
I've never danced with such freedom as an adult! It was refreshing (as was that delish cacao and the amazing group of women)."
"A true gift and blessing to love, honor, and care for yourself."
"Interesting, invigorating, unique, special, opening, cathartic, educational."
